MindanaOne-Lanao holds caravan and political rally for Partido Manggagawa Partylist

About 500 MindanaOne members in Lanao del Norte launched a caravan and political rally on March 18, 2016 to support Partido Manggagawa (PM) Party List in its bid for congress this coming May 2016 election.

The caravan from district 1 and 2 converged in front of the Mindanao Civic Center in Tubod. The group proceeded to Peoples Plaza in Tubod for a political rally where representatives from different sectors (farmers, fisherfolks, women and youth) speak out their support for PM.

The supporters were joined by the PM second nominee, Mr. Rufino Gonzaga-a former president of Iligan Doctors Employee’s Union and a transport organizer. Currently, he is the president of homeowners association and a chairperson of both urban poor alliance in Iligan City and a multi-sectoral organization in Iligan and Lanao.

In his speech, he thanks the overwhelming support of MindanaOne-Lanao for PM. According to him, this support furthers his commitment to work harder to represent their interest in the congress if PM wins.

Walden Bello, an independent senatorial candidate, sent his message of support for MindanaOne’s campaign which was read during the rally. In his message, Bello underscored major issues such as poverty, lack of basic social services from the government, lack of permanent and dissent jobs, food and environmental crisis, and corruption which contribute to the demise of human dignity in the Philippines. “Dignity is our battle cry in this campaign because this is what every Filipino needs,” Bello said.

To cap off the activity, the representatives from different sectors together with Mr. Gonzago held and raised their hands to officially support and endorse PM as their official party list for this coming election.
